What is the DOL starter? | How to control DOL starter? | What is the range of DOL starter?

What is the DOL (Direct On-Line) starter?

The DOL (Direct On Line) starters are used for motor having low power ratings. Where the starting current does not damage the motor windings. For applications in which the starting current does not cause huge dips within the line voltage. Direct on line starters are used for small water pumps, fan, compressors and conveyor belts.

The DOL starter includes of two push button switch particularly Green and Red where the green switch is used to start and red switch is used to stop the motor. The DOL starter comprise a circuit breaker or MCCB, thermal overload relay (OLR) & contactor for protecting the motor.

What is the range of DOL (Direct On-Line) starter?

DOL (Direct On Line) Starter 0.5HP - 12.5HP ( Relay Range 1-1.6 to 20-32 Amp.)

How to control DOL (Direct On-Line) starter?

The DOL (Direct On Line) Starter is started by simply pressing the Start Push button and stopped by Stop push button. This method easy way of controlling the motor. If the push button switch is pressed, the contactor gets energized and gets closed.

What is the difference between VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) and DOL (Direct On-Line) starter?

DOL (Direct On Line) methods have the most simple motor-starting abilities, at the same time as VFDs have motor control and the main difference VFD can increase or decrease the motor speed, while Dol starter only controls the easy start and stop the motor.
